When you have an unopened fresh pack of almond flour, you can expect it to last for 3 to 5 months beyond the best-before date mentioned.

To make the flour last longer than that, you can keep the pack in the refrigerator.

  • Feel the Change in Smell .

You are familiar with the nutty smell of almonds, and that similar aroma comes from the flour too.

You just have to smell your old packet and confirm if that aroma is still there.

As time passes, the scent starts to fade, and when the flour goes bad, then there will be a foul smell.

  • Alteration in the Color.

Once the skin of almonds is removed, they will turn white instead of brown.

So the almond flour should be of white color as the flours maintain the original color.

But if you have seen any color alteration, that means the flour is no longer good or unsafe to consume.

  • Clumps .

The primary reason to keep the flour in a sealed bag is to lock out the moisture.

If water or moisture gets in the flour, then it will develop clumps in it.

  • Avoid light and store at a cool place .

The flour can be spoiled because of light or heat.

Therefore you need to be careful that it is not exposed to direct sunlight or heat.

Because of excessive heat, the product will get oxidize and become rancid.

Many people keep the flour near the stove, which needs to be corrected, so you should prioritize cool and dark places like cupboards for storing it.

  • Seal the Leftovers .

Most of the time, people leave the leftovers carelessly anywhere, which leads to bad flour.

The flour can get bug infection, moisture, and even the odor of strong foods, making it lose its true essence and flavor.

Thus you need to be sure and seal the leftover flour after use.

You can use a glass jar or airtight container and in case of an airtight bag, be sure to air out the bag.
