Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour heat-treated
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup mini chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Hand Mixer or Stand Mixer For creaming butter and sugars
  • Mixing Bowls For making the dough
  • Baking Sheet For heat-treating flour
  • 8x8 Baking Pan Lined with parchment paper for easy removal

Method

  1. Spread flour on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes. Let cool completely.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in milk, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  4. Gradually stir in the cooled, heat-treated flour until fully incorporated.
  5. Fold in mini chocolate chips gently, spreading them evenly throughout the dough.
  6. Press the dough evenly into a parchment-lined 8x8 pan. Chill for at least 2 hours until firm.
  7. Lift out of the pan and slice into bars using a sharp knife. Wipe knife between cuts for clean edges.

Notes

  • Use mini chips for even distribution throughout the dough.
  • Drizzle with melted chocolate after chilling for an extra treat.
  • Store chilled for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
